Haven't been here for over a year, but I am having a great year with Short-eared Owls so thought I would share a few. They are my favorite bird and I spend a lot of time with them when I find them The last good year I had with them was 2011, so I am really enjoying this year. I'll start with a juvie or two. I have one area of about 8 miles by 3 miles where I have kept track of at least 10 pairs of adults, and there have been a lot of young ones this year. Hope you enjoy.
This is one of the older juvies, and is actually sitting on a vole he had caught. Very early morning, so it was still not real bright out yet.

Excellent detail and hypnotic eye contact. Good job getting as much as you did in the ground cover.
