Ruffed Grouse

This was a test of the 5D's abillity to hold together on an extreme crop since I had been shooting with a 50D up untill this time. I've not printed any images with this kind of crop, but assume it wouldn't hold up very well in print, but I did like the way it held up on screen. Any thoughts?

Amazing detail. Really like this. The large image is a must view. Well captured.

Amazing palette, Neil.  Great detail and eye contact and the grouse stands out from the similar bg on the basis of texture alone.  Nice.

I'd say you pulled this out extremely well for a 15% crop. In the large image, it is fantastically sharp. I did notice (in the large image only) a small amount of green chromatic aberration.cool

Hi Neil

The 5D is really sharp and the colors stand out nicely.

Beautiful sharp detail and exposure, tiny nit but that upright stick to the left of the bird does draw my eye a bit, love the raised creast.

Very impressive for such a large crop Neil. I do wish the twig wasn't in a location so close to the head, because it does raw my eye a bit. Still nice image.
