I was stationed below him with my camera & tripod, off to the right, hard to guesstimate, maybe 20-30 yards while my wife was sitting much further away on granite boulders across from him with our tracker. As long as we kept fairly low key, he seemed willing to share the morning with us. Photographed around NW India.

Butch,
Lucky to find a Leopard in India!
On my monotor this looks to have a sloght magenta cast and be a little bright.
Nevertheless a great capture
Butch, this is a really good one! I like the clean setting, which still offers depth and angles. The curve of the tail is KEY to making this composition work, engaging the lower right part of the frame and eye contact cool. You have good depth of field with your choice of 7.1, too. I agree it might have even more pop with a slight decrease in exposure, which would probably emphasize the golden highlights. Given the posture against leading lines, I don't think the centered body is a problem, whatsoever.
What a stare ! I love the light too.
Butch: this is a beautiful capture. I really like the soft light on the cat and that curved tail which leads you right up to the cat with its full on stare. My only very minor suggestion would be to burn the bright part of the rock to the left of the cat. Fabulous otherwise. Richard
Wonderful setting here!
I'd darken the midtones slightly for more punch?
