Simple Lines

by Patricia Brundage

The simple lines of the calla are elegant and enticing.  They draw me into its center to create the most pleasing view of each individual flower.  Taken with Canon SX50, F4, 1/100 sec., ISO 400, -0.3.  Cropped slightly, rotated, minor adjustments in PS, softened slightly in NIK and finished with Topaz DeNoise.

Comments and suggestions always appreciated and usually applied after the fact.

Wonderfully different and excellently composed, Patricia.  I love the way that the swirl works as it is turned on its side.  I love it!

Patricia - One of the very good creative shots I have seen of a Calla Lily. Love the soft feel and how the curves help move the eyes gently in the frame.

Patricia: One of my favorite subjects and a comp I really like. I tend to shoot tight comps of callas in a portrait orientation so this challenges me to look at them differently. Very well done.>=))>

Very creative, Patricia. Turning the Calla sideways by 45 degrees was a nice touch. Your treatment was handled very well, without excess.devil

Extraordinary, sculptural effect of great beauty, Patricia !!  The treatment of the rim - its seeming solidity - works so well against the softness of the background.

Patricia I love the geometrical design stolen from the calla. Beautiful the shades of yellow too. It's an excellent photo for me.

This is a winner!   Best on page in my opinion.  I have never seen a calla lily presented like this.   That double curl looks like two breaking waves...and the llc with the buttery yellow and peach is tapered so nicely into the white.   Exquisite.   I suspect you cleaned/cloned up the lily ...which is a right move.

This is a great, alternate take, on a Calla, Patricia.  Love the combination of gentle lines and subtle colors that you've got here.  It was also fun that it took me a while looking before I realized that it was a Calla.
