My once a year (if that) foray into NPN's awesome avian gallery. I moved into a new home two weeks ago and came across this Pilated WP nest several days later located just a couple hundred yards from my new house. After finding, unpacking and dusting off the old 500 f4, I visited the nest a few times over the next week until the chicks left the nest (which, unfortunately, occurred while I was at work). D600, Nikon 500 f4 + 1.4 tc. Imaged cropped from original horizontal. Comments, questions, and suggestions welcome.  crying

Nice find, Scott

Glad to see you found time during your unpacking and setteling in to your new digs to check out the neighbors.  Cool Shot!

Pretty cool interaction here.  Nice to be able to see the two youngters at the same time with Mom.  Nicely done.

Very cool image, Scott!  Great interaction between the parent and chicks. The little chicks look so cute peeking out of the nest!

Excellent shot with some real live family action, Scott!  I love the interesting bark patterns on the tree, it's a nice little bonus for the scene.

Sweet, Scott.  You got great poses from all three birds particularly that little head turn from the lower chick.  The sycamore bark patterns make a wonderful bg.  Excellent work.

Fun behavior I'd love to see some day.  I might like to see a slightly tighter crop on this, but I must say, the patterns in the tree bark are amazing!
