Utah this April. I conceived this as a badland abstract, concentrating on the shapes and shadows. Any thoughts, critiques or suggestions would be welcome.

Well you conceived quite a slick abstract, Harley. I am always amazed at the jumble of drainages that seem to have no order to them at all. Of course, in the bigger picture they make perfect sense, but when you take a cross section such as this, chaos seems to rule. I like this a lot, The large really opens up the textures and hidden detail in the deep shadows. Very nice.

Always amazing how such a desolate terrain can be so very appealing at the same time. The B&W treatment is an excellent choice here again on this one from the Utah trip, Harley.......

I think that the "wet elephant skin" look that you got in the entire series is truly unique, I can't recall seeing that before and it is, I believe, instantly recognizable. I do like the symmetry here quite a bit, and the long soft shadows. My only minor suggestion would be to try to increase the contrast between the peak top center and its background, so as to make the peak more distinct - not sure if it would work, though. I do that sort of thing all the time and more often than not discard the result, but I know it is something I would try in this case.

Nice composition with all those shapes, shadows and lines. Surprisingly you take out something beautiful from a desert.

Once again you mastered the dynamic range perfectly, resulting in another stunning B&W. Lines and shapes like these will never bore me I think. Great job, Harley!

The lighting really lets all the shapes and textures shine here, Harley. It's a great view, that's a fine mix of abstract and real.
