Entering the Bath

This Savannah Sparrow came into the area of our pond just above the falls yesterday afternoon.  I'd gone out to try my hand at the almost mature tadpoles.  I'd quit that and was just lying at the end of the pond and discovered the birds didn't consider me a threat that way.  Not as much lens as I'd like and I had problems balancing dof to keep the bg rocks blurred and still have enough for the bird.  I still went back and blurred the rocks a bit more in post as well as toning them down a bit.

5Diii, 300mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, hand held lying on my stomach, f/7.1, 1/1600, iso 1600, aperture priority, pattern metering with no compensation.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Cropped to 9.6MP.  Taken in our backyard at 2:45 yesterday aftrnoon.

Please look at the larger version.

Thanks for any and all comments and criticisms.

Love the raised foot with the water clinging to it, great BG separation.

Nice POV & sharp, natural looking colordevil

I really like the raised foot on this one Dennis. It provides a good sense of motion and tells your story. While I love the low angle, I am not a huge fan of the FG. I almost wish you would have raised up(if possible) a hair to only show water as your blurry FG. I think the reason I am not loving the FG so much is because of how close it comes to touching the foot. Still a nice image...don't mean to nit pick, but wanted to pass along my thoughts.
