This immature White Ibis didn't seem any too sure, but I suspect it was just getting a tasty morsel out of the reeds. Taken at the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center in Port Aransas, Texas.
7Dii, 300mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, handheld, f/8, 1/800, iso 1250, aperture priority, center weighted average metering, no compensation. Processed in LR5 & CS6. Cropped to 10.9 MP. Taken at 8:14 am on February 22nd.

6 commentsThat's just weird, Dennis! A unique pose for sure and a good capture of it.
Looking at this on-line, I can't for the life of me remember why I left all that negative space at the bottom. Here's a recropped version.
Thanks,
Dennis,
Good catch of interesting behavior. I like the second crop and the eye is well in focus. It seems a little flat on m screen. Perhaps it is the similarity of background colors to the bird.
Neat upside down pose Dennis, I prefer the reposted comp.
Definitely the repost - and great detail on the eye!!
I really like this shot (repost). Great behavior capture. The Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center is really a neat place to visit. I go there about 4 times a year and see something different each time. Great place to get up close to alligators in the wild too.
