A companion to my previous sunset post from this neat location. I waited until the early sun just started to hit the small spire on the left. The sunlight on the small ridge at the mid right led my eye to the spire which kinda led to the bright ridge in the BG. At least that was the plan. ![]()

9 commentsVery very beautiful, Dave. I like it even more that the sunset shot. No suggestions, really.
I'm glad you had such nice light on your trip to Utah. I have never had much luck with such a prominent foreground, but thisd seems to work quite well. As you suggested the small ridge line leads right to the spire and back around. Nicely seen and presented.
Definitely nice lighting in this Dave, I like the three differing views too.
Gary.
Another nicely captured moment, Dave. This type of sculpting light doesn't last long.
Dave, you caught some lovely light here as well as setting up a fine near/far composition. This is very warm and inviting.
Nice plan you have, and it seems to work too! Nicely envisioned of you I must say. Although it's not as great as your previous one (which was absolutely killer) it's still a very good photo. The comp is a bit unconventional, but very effective.
Another beautiful one with plenty of details brought by this sculpting light. Nicely seen, the patience has been rewarded.
I like the way the foreground spire is darker against the formation behind it, with its beautiful warm light. That little ridge lit up in the back does its job, too. Nicely crafted image.
The light captured in this image is wonderful Dave, and I like everything about this image.
