In my view, Darwin Falls is one of the crown jewels of Death Valley National Park.

Hard to believe this was taken in Death Valley, isn't is, Alberto? Darwin Falls is a unique place, well captured here.

This is in DVNP? I didn't know there was such a wet place to be found there, interesting! About the photo itself, maybe a small bit of contrast could be added?

Beautiful, natural post-processing, well made.

This is a neat looking place and I sure wouldn't think of DVNP when looking at it. I like the rock and the falls looks great. I think the branch on the right edge is a little distraction but not overly so. I agree with Roel that maybe a little bit of contrast (not much) or a small curves adjustment might work here. Fine as is but that was my first thought looking at this. Cheers.

Pretty scene, Alberto. I agree with the comments suggesting a bit more contrast, but not very much. I have never been there, despite numerous trips to the park. It is a jewel.

Hi guys, thanks for the comments! The subdued contrast was intentional, to go with the peacefulness of the place. In arriving at this version I went through several iterations with different contrast, here is one, preferences?

Also, about that branch. It bugs me too, it is actually a fallen but still rooted tree that has been there since the floods of the summer of 2013. The place is very small and constricted, and it is virtually impossible to get a "clean" view of the falls without the branch...

Hi Alberto,

The repost is right on the money with the processing, and I am cool with the branch. Very nicely seen and presenetd!!!

The repost looks considerably better in my opinion. This place is amazing. I will wager that there are more species of birds in the 200 square yds around this area than in all of the rest of Death Valley. I visited this place only twice and shot only the bottom wet triangle of the falls. Didn't think it good enough for NPN and never posted it. I could add it to this thread for a comparison if you are interested.

very good tones and colours, but the + is the general composition and the ++ is the particular shape of the waterfall.

Excellent.

All the best,
Sandro

Jives with my memory of the place, Alberto, but I've never come away with an image as good as this one from there. I think that I might try darkening the brightest whites on the two smaller rocks in the upper left as my eye keeps going there.  Nice shot!
