We found this one on the crater floor in Ngorongoro, Tanzania.
It looked from its poe that it was preparing for a mating display, but in spite of the time we spent with him (20 minutes) he never went into it.
Nebertheless I think it is a great pose.

11 commentsI really enjoy the birds and other wildlife you post on here Ken. This is another great example. I love the pose.
A wonderful pose indeed, Ken. Sweet image.
He, certainly, looks like he's ready for the girl to walk by! From the way he's looking at you, it almost looks like he's "flipping you off" and daring you to go away. Great shot of a bird, that I've never seen before. And great capture of his distainful attitude of you
. He's definitely a cocky son of a gun!
The rock behind the Bustard is unfortunate but you get mighty fine pose here.
Awesome pose, Ken, and great shot! Such cool character here both in the physiology of the bird and its pose and expression. Very cool.
An amazing capture and thank you for sharing
Thanks everybody for your kind comments, they are much appreciated.
Butch,
I did not even notice the rock until I posted it here
Ken: great pose and "attitude" exhibited by the bird. Best photo I've ever seen of this species. Richard
Very cool action behavior you captured here Ken. I like the soft light.
Sweet One
