White Morpho

D90, 105mm, f/4, 1/200, ISO 640 (difficult conditions), 0EV, 85% of original frame.

The original image was underexposed and pretty dark. I feel this maybe belongs to Photo Art. Butterfly house, Montreal Botanical Garden. April 2015.

Terrific image, Yun.  Nice job with the dof management, including getting the subject aligned with the narrow plane of focus and keeping the bg soft and attractive. While the orig may have been underexposed, this looks right on the money. My only nit is the bright leaf in the URC, which is a bit of a distraction.

I think this is fine posted here as, despite any aggressive pp, it does not look like an artitistic representation and is not a composite.

When I saw the thumbnail, I thought the butterfly would be washed out...but, no, it's delicately beautifuldevil  With only a bit of orange coloring, you captured him wonderfully with the orange dominated BG.  Without that orange in the BG, he would not have been as sweet!  I might have even cloned a touch of the orange and yellow and placed it on the left of him, too.

I'm always amazed at how much can be "pulled" out of an underexposed image, Yun.  I've pushed exposures up to 2.0 and gotten decent results.  Yes, noise in dark areas can get bad with that much added exposure, but this view looks very good...no noticeable noise, some fine colors in the background and excellent details and sharpness in the bf.
