'Failed Attempt' on the part of the Osprey and the Camera Man. As I came around a bend in the river, this Osprey came diving off his perch heading towards a fish that had churned up the water in front of the boat. I scrambled for my camera to catch the action but as you can see we both came up a little short of our goals. Hand held from boat, 70% of full frame.

7 commentsMaybe for the Osprey but I sure wouldn't say the attempt was a failure for the camera man! This is a great shot with nice sharp detail throughout the bird plus you even got a sharp eye despite the fact that it was going away from you! The water spray is icing on the cage and helps provide some extra drama. I really like this one Mike!
Good thing he wasn't diving at you.
This looks very good to me, Mike. The splash following him and the water dripping from his claws are fine additions. You've got some nice "glow" in parts of the wings and the wing position suggests his power. I agree with Gary, this one's a keeper.
Nice action capture, made great by the water spray. Definitely worth scrambling for the camera.
Hi Mike
An exciting action shot perfectly captured... the water spray and fine detail add to to make this a fine presentation

Congrats Mike, well deserved!
I caught an inca dove heading the wrong way last week, but too late for this WC of course..
Mike, congrats on the EP!
