Breakfast for kit

About an hour from my home in St. Louis, along the Mississippi river, there's a pair of foxes with 5 kits.

We finished up our tiger safari tours early this year.  This month, I've been photographing this family, and today, for the first time, I saw one of the kits catch its own breakfast.

Critiques and comments welcome

Nice behavioural capture. I like the look on the fox's face and the mouse really adds something. I would try to lighten the fox a bit. The OOF rocks in the foreground are unfortunate, but not a deal breaker. Well done.

Exquisite shot - love the low angle, lighting, prey, scale and that wanting look in the eye.  A bit of pride, but a good dose of uncertainty.

Butch.

The surroundings here certainly did not help you.

In this case the facial expression is a delight, I tend to concentrate on the subject rather than the overall image so the background does not really interfere.

Hi Butch,

Very cute kit - love the eyes and ears. I like the side-lighting here as well - definitely not the easiest light to work in but it provides beautiful contrast and can result in stunning images. Bit of a shame the mouse is fully aligned with the mostly dark leg as it tends to disappear in the shot (tho' the eyes and ears of the shot really help carry the day). I did notice the out-of-focus band of rocks in the foreground right off...I'd agree with Jerry that it's unfortunate they were there but that there not a dealbreaker.

Cheers...and thanks for sharing this one...

Brad
