Stepping back a stop on my trip last Feb-Mar. I'm curious what people think of this Pyrrhuloxia. I like the little tuft of leaves in front of the bird, but I'm curious what others think of it.

7 commentsHey Dennis,
Works for me !
It appears the subject is looking around the bloom with that whimsical head turn and that makes it a very special element IMO.
The overall composition is excellent with an enjoyable color pallet, mesmerizing back ground and wonderful detail. I would also be in favor of just a bit more overall vibrancy to the image as it appears more towards the flat side on my monitor.
Well done . . .

I think that since the tuft of leaves come in right below the eye & beak, it works Dennis.
They kind of direct the viewer immediately to the birds face..right where you want it..
The sllightly muted color looks good/natural to me, excellent exposure/detail
Really nice, Dennis ! The whole image has a wonderful environmental feel so the ` obstruction ' in front of the bird ( which still leaves the eye visible ) just seems part of the scene. Top notch work for me
Dennis when I first viewed this I thought pity about the leaf ,but reading the other comments made me think and must say I agree, very nice piece of work.
Keith.
Simply stunning......love this one, Dennis.
Nice one Dennis. At first, I thought those leaves were flowers and overall I think they enhance the image. I'm on the fence about the leaves below the bird's head. I think I would like it better without them, on the other hand this is quite nice as it is.
I really like this, Dennis. The soft light and colors are great, and I like how the branches and bird all line up on the same general alignment. I don't mind the leaves--they're not a distracting oof blob, and they don't obstruct the nice view of the head, plus I really like their color.
