This was a sign at the Chapparal Wildlife Management Unit in South West Texas. I think it is self explanatory.

Definitely a hoot, Ed!  Great catch on some amazingly smart birds.

Thank you Mark and Paul. It was either this one or the NO SWIMMING in Joshua Tree. Duh! It was too bright though for a decent post. See attached.

Ed, I photographed a no swimming sign (written out) at a Wyoming Badlands south and east of Cody in 1996, but that's in a slide...  I always get a kick out of finding out that bureaucrats (at least occasionally) have a sense of humor.

Ed, the sign at JTNP is a bit factual with the Barker Dam out there holding water at times. In fact, my brother and I have done a lot of hiking in J-tree over the years and we've actually found a few more smaller dams here and there. I think the term they use out there of "Tank" means there is a holding dam or tank in the given area. White Tank, Oak Tree Tank, Stirrup Tank, Two Tank.....etc.

Thanks everyone for your encouragement and kind words. I agree Paul. I think the no swimming sign near Barker Dam was supposed to be for real, but it was funny since there was absolutely not a drop of water anywhere near that year, even in the tank that was supposed to hold the last drops.
