I had imagined this shot for quite some time (for better or worse). This is 6 ponderosa pine trunks lined up with no spaces between them. D800e, 80-200 2.8 @86mm, f 18, ISO 320. C & C welcomed.

Amazing that you got them all so close to the plane of focus! The slight differences in color/bark pattern makes for an interesting compostion.
Good eye to have found this envisioned op!

I really like the abstract nature of this one! I do think I would crop out the tree on the right in the distance. It's a bit too much out of focus and the green leaves sticking out are slightly distracting, somewhat ruining the uniformity of the rest of the photo.

Hi Jim,
Excellent eye in seeing and capturing this image. The details, contrasts, and textures are all very well represented in this image. The way you have structured the scene with the lead ponderosa in front, and the back two playing a supporting role works out beautifully in this image. I like the idea in cropping from the right for the out of focus area, but also crop from the out of focus area on the left too.
Sweet image

Fascinating concept shot, Jim. I have no problem with the slightly OOF trees on the edges as they reinforce what you are trying to accomplish here. I think that this would be even more effective with some variation in the light on the supporting trees to emphasize the stacking effect of the trunks. A spot worth coming back to and experimenting some more.
