Early on the first morning of our trip last month to Mono Lake, Death Valley and Southern Utah, I hustled out to the lake edge to catch one of the better sunrises I've seen there, maybe the best of the trip, too. Given the drought, the lake level was very low leaving a huge area of salt flat between the grasses and the water. I found this water seeping in from the adjacent marshes.

First you had me fooled with your spring photo that turned out to be an autumn photo, now you fool me with a snow photo that has no snow in it..... Great job! This certainly is a nice sunset, and the reflections in the pools, and the shape of the pools themselves are great.
This is a neat nearly abstract, Dave. Although there's clealy landscape showing, for me this is all about shapes, colors and textures, with the tiny bit of water and it's interesting shape doing a fine job of mimicking the cloud shapes in the sky. Sure hope you folks get some rain soon.
Nice color and textures, Dave. I like the shape of the rivulets and the reflected color in them.
You might consider pullin down the blue in the mid ground just a bit.
Mark, it's really grim. It's rumored that Tioga and Sonora Passes will open before May 1. Both these passes are near 10,000 '. Pray for rain!

That's a wonderful mix of color Dave. (I too thought there was snow on the ground.) I like the idea of backing down the blue of the salt, but only a tiny bit. (You don't want to lose the mix of colors.)
Very nice mix of colors from a landscape. It gives an abstract looking that I find very interesting. It looks that we are prisonners caught between sky and ground, it was my first feeling and I saw it. Bravo!

Hi Dave,
The color palette and textures are wonderful in this capture. Mother nature wanted you to capture her beauty in this image, and she gave you the perfect scenario to do so in this fine image.I find the foreground to be very nice in shape, reflection and flow into the background. The colors in the sky compliment the blues very nciely. I only hope y'all get some much needed rain soon!!!
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet image
Very interesting capture. The ripples in clouds look very much like wavelets on water, creating a disorienting sensation of upside down-ness. It encourages one to look deeper into the scene, all the while trying to make sense of it.
Real sweet, Dave! I wouid second Preston's suggestion about toning down the mid ground blues a bit, but minor stuff. Real nice takeaway from Mono.
