Tulips
by Ken Smith
Taken at sunrise at Skagit Valley on 4/3/2015. A quiet and un-crowded moment on Good Friday.
Nikon d800e with Nikon 14-24mm at F18 and 14mm.
I’d guess that a week or two of good tulip blooms are left. The daffodils are pretty much past their prime.
I posted a similar photo showing the sun taken just a few minutes after this one….see the PNW forum.

10 commentsThe tulip patch at HK Flower Show is really pathetic compared to this!! Man what a sight this must be. Wish I could be there. I do remember you posting a similar image last year. Love the warm light and the vignette effect of the wide angle. Fabulous
Awesome capture, Ken. I love the light.
Gorgeous, Ken. I love the effect of the pre-dawn light on the tulips. Just the right amount of light tomake them glow above the leaves.
Simply gorgeous Ken. What a place and what a nice capture. The light is just right and the colors are brilliant. Excellent work!

Wow, talk about mood. I love everything about this Ken, really great work.
An iconic subject, but this is lifted way beyond that with the somber mood and the incipient sunrise. A well timed catch!
