Jake is also a rescue mutt and a great little dog. He somehow manages to keep up with the big dogs when we hike in the mountains and he's a natural poser. This shot shows he was truly on top of it all. I chose an aperture that would isolate him for a 3D effect while still showing most of the detail in the background for context.

Sony ILCE-6000, SEL-55210, ISO-100, f8.0, 1/400

Amazing shot of Jake! Donna would have had a stroke if either of ours was perched like that.

Cool shot, thanks for posting it!

Another INSANE backdrop for one of your canine portraits, Gary. Are you sure you don't just pose your dogs against a green screen and then strip in your favourite landscape photos? Great light and comp here to boot. EPIC.

Neat, clean view of your dog on this ledge, clearly "enjoying the terrific scenery".

I love the attention on his stare - something very serious is going on and he needs to make sure that he understands what  I think that the aperture compromise worked very well, and the low angle light is beautiful

Hey Gary,

Jake is truly 'King of the Hill' as are your pet portraits.

Well done . . .  devil

Lucky dog to be in such a scenic spot. He looks very absorbed in the vista.
