Water & Ice

This is another photo from my trip up North to the UP of Michigan. Unlike my previous submission, this one was taken at a much faster exposure to stop the motion. Processing included Luminosity Masks, Make It Glow, Topaz Detail, Brightness & Contrast, and adjustment layers for Hue & Saturation for blue and cyans. K5 IIs, 300mm f4 (1/1600sec at f6.3, ISO 800)......................Jim

This is quite a juxtaposition, Jim, with the warm toned "flood" waters against the icy back wall. I think the stopped motion in the water works well here.

I love this one. It's all about the texture. The warm/cool contrast is nice too. Excellent composition.

I love the contrast between motion and stillness - I think you made the right call with the very fast exposure!! :toast:

I like the composition and the textures in the ice and water.

Nicely done, that deep yellow is fascinating.

Hi Jim, great contrast in the colours! For me as well, spot on with the very fast exposure! Would be interested to know, if a slight twist to the right (just to see slightly more of the top of the water before it cascades over the edge) would give even more dynamic to the already excellent shot, giving perhaps a more unifirm 's-curve' through the shot. You would probably end up with slightly more white water on the right hand side of the image which would also 'frame' the orange colours a little more. Excellent!
Cheers, Mark

Hi Jim,

This image works for me because of the framing, the textures, and the contrasts. The positioning of the moving water, texture, and color works so well with the solid ice positioned in the background.

Very nice Work with this image
