Black Drongo

One of the new species I added to my list in India. It was nice to get a little sunlight, which helped bring out the iridescence in what otherwise looks like a plain black bird. This was once considered a subspecies of the African Fork-tailed drongo (which looks nearly identical), but is now considered a distinct species.

Canon 500mm f/4 IS + 1.4x
ISO 400

f/8

Bird is a standout against that lovely background - would like to see a larger version

Nice pose, perch, and background. Nice job in bringing out the iridescence. Agree a larger version would have been nice. :toast:

Nice one, Max! Hard to get better separation or contrast from the background than this, and great black-on-black detail. Love the pose and view from behind as well.

Nice, clean and simple Max, like the head angle and the fact you can actually see the 'forked' tail. Would like to have seen this bigger.

I like the iridescence showing in this one Max. I wish you would have posted a larger version though.
