A yellow crowned night heron from my recent Florida workshop. This was at Ding Darling NWR.

Interesting and different pose. Really like the way the dark background serves to focus attention on the subject. Wish for a larger version.

Well that is just crazy cool all-round, Loren! Very dramatic pose and looks like fantastic techs. I love the dark background and surroundings, letting the heron pop and arrest the viewer's attention.

Hi Loren,

Very nice. The pose is interesting with the puffed up feathers and the dark BG goes well with the subject being a night heron :toast: ...........Jim

That's quite a pose, Loren. The details in the bird are great, also. The darkened background really lets the bird pop.

I like the dark surroundings quite a bit.

Question: Is this a display (courtship?), was it getting read to take off, was it defecating...? Just curious as to the reason for the pose.

Yes, Max, it was displaying, or at least mugging for the camera.

Loren,
This is a special shot. The pose and the dark background make it for me. I also like the way you framed the shot. Wish we had a larger iteration posted. :toast:

I like this unique pose and the dark BG really helps this heron to pop off the page.

Wow, very cool! I wonder what this pose was about. Is it some kind of mating display? :toast:

Loren,
The pose is wonderful, the dark background for me looks strange but is perfect :toast: :toast: :toast:
