Bobcat

I've been on a bit of a wild cat quest these last couple months, trying to get images of at least three new cat species. As I mentioned in other posts, my luck hasn't been great, but at least I've come away with a few pictures.

My latest trip took me to central California, where I was hoping to land my first decent bobcat photos. Even though this is a hotbed for bobcats, we saw "only" three cats in two days. Anywhere else, that would be good, but it was actually a very low number for this particular area. Thankfully, one of those three cats posed for a few photos before disappearing into the brush above this hillside.

This wasn't the closest image, but I liked having the view of the full body with no grass interference, and the alert pose is appealing. I'll definitely return to this area to try again in the future, but it's nice to finally add the bobcat to my list in the meantime.

This shows off very nicely how well they blend in. Especially that head just disappears into the surroundings.

I agree he provided a nice "look back" pose, without obstruction. And it is tough to find such an opportunity. Beyond all control, the background lends a littered feeling which is unfortunate. Still, congrats on getting the decent sighting!

Max,
Given the difficult circumstances, this is a great capture. I wonder if a little warming up may help, but it could just be my monitor
