This is a very large crop which I hope shows the detail available from the IDX 200-400mm combination
Taken from a drifting boat on the Nile in Uganda.
EOS 1DX
200-500 mm F 4 with 1.4 EX at 560mm
F5.6
ISO 800
1/1000

Despite the large crop, which doesn't really show, a wonderful image. Lovely light and BG colors. I have seen it only to far to come up with any decent shot, so envy you to have captured this tiny Kingfisher so well :toast: , Hans

Great image despite the large crop. In fact, it's one of the better images of this species I've seen in a while. I love the background and the fact that the branch crosses the whole frame. My only nit is that it looks a bit over saturated. Just a bit. I know these guys are strikingly colorful, but you might try pulling it back ever so slightly. Well done.

This image just goes to show how amazing the Canon 200-400 really is. Max focal length with converter. Awesome!

Nice angle here, Ken. It provides a great look at those lovely crown feathers. Gotta love the background too.

How large a crop is "very large" Ken? I really like all the brown/orange tones in the image and then the bright blue to contrast with them. Nice job.

Those are some astonishing colors, Ken and the noise looks good for this being a "very large crop".

Wow - eye-grabbing picture and mind-warping results with that much crop, Ken! Beautiful image as presented. I love the background coordination with the breast. Would love to have a crack at this species some day!
