Love those big feet -- good detail in the blacks without blowing the white beak -- nicely done action shot

Well done Kurt. I have tried, unsuccessfully I might add, to capture just such an image. For anyone who has tried, it is exceedingly difficult. Coot only fly for short distances and they take off and land very quickly. Being in a position to capture this fine an image is amazing. What I like the most is that he is completely out of the water and you get a look at those amazing feet, something we rarely see. Top notch.

Fantastic action shot, very dynamic. The sense of motion is wonderful and those feet. With out a doubt these guy's are certainly the Bob Lanier of the avian world.

this is awesome. coot feet are great, but most of the time, if they're in the photo, the coot is just standing around. nice comp and exposure, great action.
