The ripples and reflections around this moorhen were striking. Hope you like this.

Among other names, it is now more officially called "Common Gallinue". An interesting composition, but it does describe the subject, and the bird is not the subject.

Thank you for telling me about the bird's new name. : :wavey: I didn't realize, that the moorhen in America was reclassified in 2011 as the common gallinule. I really wish, that they had decided to call it the American marsh-hen or something else, as the name gallinue conjures up the vision of our very pretty purple gallinule in my mind.

But, as you noted, the real subject of the photo is the gorgeous reflection. So, I'll leave the taxonomy discussion for another time Although, it's interesting to know, that there really was quite an argument at the time about what to re-name this common bird.

Nice, strong, well defined composition. The parallel vertical lines on top of the horizontal layers creates a compelling design. Well conceived. The colors are pretty saturated but the work together. The red is a bit oversaturated for my taste. Image is pretty contrasty but that's your choice.

The way the trees are only visible in the water, and the green vegetation is not, make for a great reflection Lucy. The Less-purple Gallinule is a great addition.

Works very well for me. I like the pano format and the dark vignetted top. The reflections look good too!
