Not much on the thirds here other than that FG horizon line but the trees are on 1/4's at most. It seemed like a weird comp when I processed it but if the image fits the WC, then use it! From the White Mountains of course, last August.

I see 3 tree stumps, so isn't that rule of thirds... I think it works well, Dave. There's some nice eye movement both from the stumps fading into the distance and from the big triangular slices coming down the mountainside. The two clumps of green are a nice addition in the foreground.

I think this works very well in conveying a sense of barrenness. I especially like the lines in the background converging to the tree on the right, that's very nice.

This reminds me of an ant lion's hide out. I like the downward flow which suggests that gravity is indeed a strong force in nature. Well done...............Jim

I find my gaze bounces back and forth between the two tree stumps and keeps me focused on the image. Located so close to the edge, they act as a kind of frame. I like the fact that they are each the same distance from the edge, balancing the image and mitigating the effect of the strong diagonal lines.
