"Bright & Windy at Solomon Lake", Valdez, Alaska.

There wasn't a cloud in the sky on this day. It's all snow blowing off the mountains. I shot 3 vertical photos to get it all in and just as I pulled the camera off the tripod an incredibly strong gust ripped down the side of the mountain, picked up the tripod and took it clear across the lake! I never got it back. It's probably at the bottom of the lake right now. Sure was glad I got the camera off of it!

Sony DSC-R1, ISO-160, f8.0, 1/2000, 3 vertical shots stitched.

OMG, a flying tripod...better patent that one, Gary! I'm fascinated, because without your description, this looks like a fine winter scene with some lightly scattered clouds. Maybe that's the give away, as "fine clouds", like the one at the right edge, "should" be much higher up in the sky. It is a fine scene. I really like the textures in the foreground snow and the long look along the ridge and down the lake/river.

Wow, this has "majestic" written all over it! The mountains look really impressive. Too bad it cost you your tripod, but at least you have a nice photo and a cool story!
