The twin white spot pattern marks this invertebrate as one of the assassin bugs, who prey on others. Taken at the Miller Park Zoo with what turned out to be my first digital camera.

Neat "bug", John. Those spots are quite dramatic and getting the whole assassin sharp adds a lot to this fine view. I like the touch of green water(??) along the bottom.

Looks like a fairly intimidating critter, the big bulging eyes are particularly striking!

Hey John,
Wonderful details on this Assassin Bug and his perch and a great entry for this WC. I would consider rotating the image to eliminate all the green at the bottom and toning down the flash effect just a bit.
