Hollyford River NZ

Upper Hollyford River, South Island NZ. On the way down to Milford Sound, beautiful mountain river. This one is a panorama of three Hasselblad images, an altogether 700 MB digital image. taken with a 40 mm Distagon, stitched together in Photoshop. Due to the distortion of the edge of wide angle photos, a stitching works best with the spherical mode, then correct back to rectilinear with transform/warp. More overlap is better than less! Surprising that moving water actually can merge well!

Love the natural colors and textures in the rocks as well as the wonderful aquas and motion in the water. Your stitching and processing has worked very well; must have been a challenge working with such a large file.
By the way, as a former, ie. displaced, Alaskan, your image reminds me very much of the Little Susitna River in the Hatcher Pass area, a place I miss very much.

Really a stitch? I would never have known. Nice job on it!

I'm wondering if this would have more impact in B&W. The color image is nice, but it might have just that bit more impact in B&W. It definitely conveys the power in the river. I'm always amazed at the power in even a relatively small stream.

Tom, Yes, that water merged very nice! I really like the flow this has and just plain enjoy the looks of the water. Very nice textures in this!

Ever fascinating subject, and great technical skills (as we can see also at these dimensions).
All the best,
