Inca Dove Portrait

by Jerry Austin

I found a pair of Inca doves while I was looking for my Roadrunners. I decided to do a portrait because there were lots of branches down low. I love those red eyes and the scale like feathers of this species.

Processed using Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CC 2014.

Canon 7D Mark II
Canon 200-400 f4 L IS
f8
1/400s
ISO 100
Focal Length 560mm (Teleconverter Engaged)

A nice, intimate portrait, Jerry. Superb detail. I wonder it the shot would be stronger if the eye wasn't centered?

Very nice detail in the feathers and the eye is an, well, catcher. Cannot wait until you have it out in the open , seems like a beautiful species to me  , Hans

Look good even with the large chop & resulting grain Jerry.
Since we're cropping, I might try a square comp with less up top?
