Hi John,
I've always commented on how lucky you are to have snipe out in the open. When you least expect it ....... I was lying by the shore under some camouflage cloth photographing other species when 3 snipe calmly walked out of the grass and proceeded to feed in front of me.

Latham's Snipe
5D3 500/f4 1.4X
ISO 400 f8 1/640

cheers
Rob

Rod,
Is it luck or persistence?
Incredibly good shot I am sure John will be thrilled :toast: :toast: :toast:

Yes Rob. delightful indeed ! Nice thing about vegetation in the water- no reflection!!. The low level is everyone's dream but I just can't do it these days Well -I could try it but not be able to walk for a week.!!
Grand BG too.

Awesome shot of such a difficult species. Wish for more DOF to reduce the OOF band in the foreground - but low angle is great

Love the low angle and the raised foot.

Like the vibrant colours in this one Rob, POV is perfect, like the small inclusion of 'mush' in the FG, gives a nice layering effect.

Well-deserved luck I would call it, I mean, you weren't lying there by accident, were you ? . And you made the most out of it. Great one ! Hans

I don't recall seeing this species posted on NPN before. Brilliant shot, Rob. No nits from me.
