I had the privilege to be an island keeper for a week last September on Outer Island, a unit of the Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge, here in CT. Sunsets on an island, whether it be in Long Island Sound or an Adirondack lake, always mean an "ahh" moment for me. I lined up the sun to show through a little groove in the rock.
Powershot SX700, ISO 125, 1/1000, f/4, 24mm fixed zoom lens. Comments and suggestions always welcome and thanks for viewing.

Jim, the sky here is spectacular with the filmy clouds, the subtle blues, and the sun, sneaking behind that big rock. It does look very peaceful and it conveys very well the growing quiet of the transition from day to night with gently lapping waves as percussion. I do find myself wishing for some hints of detail in the foreground, but recognize that it would take an HDR blend to get those to show.
