Canon 1D-X, 500mm f4 x 1.4 TC, tripod

Posada Piuval, Pantanal, Brazil. They didn't often come very far out in the open. And their coloration is perfect; they are invisible in among the leaves unless they move.

50% crop, selective sharpening to bird, adjustments to Levels.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

Excellent recording of this species, and a nice pose as well at eye level... TFS, hans

Nice pose and good composition Jim, just enough light on the eye to make it work for me. :toast:

I like the environmental feel of this image. It adds to the image. I also like the OOF leaves in the background. I do wish for more light in the eye. I think some small amount of dodging would solve the problem.

Here's a version with a little soft light blending mode dodging.

Jim this is a very nice pose and setting, A little more head turn towards you would have been nice...but it didn't. Sharp detail in the bird. Keith's dodging improved this a lot IMO. It's nice to see the eye brighter. Solid capture!

I really like both but Keith's image is brighter and I can see the bird's eye better.

Nice shot, Jim. I agree with others about the improvement on Keith's version

I've been chasing this guy here in my city, but could not get any nice shot yet.
