High-stepping Verdin

This Verdin was very cooperative for me at Gilbert Water Ranch in late December. I photographed this behavior several times, where it used one foot to grab a branch above its head, and hold it while it foraged.

I appreciate your critiques and comments.

f/7.1, 1/1600, ISO 400

Crop to 50% of original (10 of 20MP). Cloned out a small second catchlight.

Canon 7DII, 500mm + 1.4x TC, tripod

Very good behavioral capture, and an unusual behavior. Pretty cool. If it were mine, I might back the sharpening down just a bit; it's not oversharpened, but it has obviously been sharpened. For me, that's a distraction.

Thanks, Jim. I've very recently switched from Photoshop CS4 to Photoshop CC, and I've found that the typical range of adjustments that I used previously with Smart Sharpen in CS4 seem to be too much in CC. I'm still trying to dial in the right range.
