670 - Title below

"Perseverance Despite Adversity" is the title but it didn't fit.

This alder tree obviously suffered such a severe compound fracture that it had to do a 360 in order to get pointed back toward the sky! This photo came to mind right away when I saw the challenge theme but it took me a while to sort through all my old photos to find it.

It was shot with my first digital camera, the Sony DSC-F707 (5 mp).

Gary, I love finding trees like this when I'm out hiking and trying to "read" what happened. What an awesome recovery by this tree! The brown against green works well as does having the tree run corner to corner. How about "Screwed Up" for a title...

Looks like a well-camouflaged, monster caterpillar. Fits the theme quite well.

Wow! I don't recall ever seeing anything like this - it is a real testament to the tree's life force. It looks a bit like a giant slug! Perfect for the topic.

Nice example of the theme, as well as a good photograph to isolate the subject by your point of view and colors, and selective focus.
