January 23, 2015 Irvine Regional Park, Irvine, California This is the third year we have seen a pair of Mandarins at this location. Unfortunately the only shots with his head turned slightly toward me have his face in the shadow. The image is not sharpened and cropped about 30%.

Nikon D4 Nikkor 600mm RAW Manual ISO640 1/1250 f/8 White Balance Auto Processed in Lightroom, PhotoshopCC2014 and NIK.

Thank you for your feedback. :toast:

Hey Patrick,
This is first rate, the colors and details are perfect and the water adds to the composition's overall 'Wow Factor'.
I don't think a head turn would add much to this outstanding capture. I would consider cloning out the specs in the water in front of the subject before printing a big wall hanger, they are much more noticeable in the large version.
Well done . . . :toast:

Beautiful. I've never been fortunate enough to see a Mandarin Duck. I especially like that it is moving, and that the sharp focus on the bird with background and foreground being slightly out of focus. Well done.

Very natural colors and illumination - the wavy reflections makes the composition for me, truly beautiful even if his head was not in the optimal angle. :toast:
