Grandma's Vine

Found this bloom on a vine that I knew would not survive the night with a cold front moving in and below freezing temperatures predicted. I brought in about a 4 foot length of the vine, which included this bloom, and arranged in my studio while playing with the lighting. This shot seemed to be right for art effects and thought I'd get some additional opinions. I simply start with some basic effects in various Topaz filters combined with art effects in my Corel programs and play around till something hopefully happens. Not sure I can ever duplicate one art photo from the next but to me, that's one of the things that makes it unique. One shot, full frame.

Very pleasing colors and texture, I really like the antique look of this. Looks like a still life painting. Wonderful work.

I really like the colors and texture - and you are right, the fact that the processing is unique and almost impossible to reproduce is what makes images such as this one all the more beautiful.

This image has a wonderfully "old timey" feeling, Mike, with interest spread well throughout the frame.

Super job Mike! Well balanced. Well lit. There's a subtleness about it that creates intrigue, and it's simply cool to look at and admire. :toast:

Hey Mike,

Congrats. The special effects, composition and colors worked out well. The composition and coordinated colors of all the flowers are especially nice :toast: ..................Jim
