After The Rain with REPOST

I'm a bit late posting - this photo was taken back in October after a good rain. I was walking through my local trails when I noticed at least a dozen different species of brand new mushrooms. I went back home and grabbed my gear and returned for a couple hours of fun. This is the first of several I plan to post.

D7000, ISO 100, 150 mm, f5.6, .6 seconds

C&C's appreciated

Hello Steve...we dont see too many Mushroom images out here. This one is very nice ..I like the vertical composition and the beautiful BG. The point of focus seems to be on the stem ?. Exposure looks marginally on the higher side on my monitor.

I like the perspective, the soft and etherial look, and the selective focus on the mushroom, Steve. I do think I'd prefer having the front of the cap sharp, in addition to the stem and top of the cap. Not sure if this required a wider fstop, which may have negatively affected the bg, or just a slightly different pof. Stacking would also work if you were so inclined. Thanks for sharing this eye-catching 'shroom. :wavey:

This is a fine look at this tiny mushroom. All it needs now is a leprechaun. I do agree that some more dof in the cap would likely be good, but there's a nice gentleness in this version with everything soft except the stem.

Beautiful image with a soft feel to it, Steve! Great overall color scheme. I think I would have liked the mushroom a bit more to the left of the frame. :wavey:

Hi Steve,

The image is soft which appears that this is for what you were trying to capture. A little more DOF on the cap would help the image quite a bit. I do like the lighting and subtle warm colors of the scene....................Jim

Lovely, Steve ! Like very much your choice of focal plane, emphasising the mushroom and the grass it arises from, and also the delicate colouring and soft light.

Thank you everyone for your comments. I had another shot of the same shroom with a slightly different comp but this one had the front in focus but not the rest (Ooops!) so I manually blended them. There's still a small section between the blends that is slightly out of focus but it is better.

I need to invest in stacking software!
