Winter Wonderland

The first vestiges of pre-dawn light illuminate the Three Sisters in Central Oregon. The windchill was about -20F, but I was so excited at the scene before me that I shot for about 45 minutes without gloves because I didn't want to fudge a camera setting. Marc Adamus was standing right next to me laughing heartily in disbelief. He flourishes in the extreme cold, but even he thought I was overdoing it. I didn't care -- I live in Minnesota where -20F is called "Thursday".

Taken about 5 years ago, but reprocessed with newfound knowledge.

What a postcard :toast: I know, we are challenged to add more in our critique, than just "atta boys"..........But, atta boy! :toast:

I don't mind "Atta Boys". Now, "Atta Girls" would be another matter entirely.

What a scene, makes me shiver Kory. Wonderful job and more power to you for withstanding the extremes. I'll take the heat any day. Wonderful image and my only nit(s) are the many dust bunnies. Easy enough to fix.

Gary, thanks for noticing! Doh! Rookie mistake. I processed this one straight from the RAW file and was in such a hurry I forgot to do that. Plus, my monitor desperately needs a cleaning -- I thought some of them were on the monitor.

Here's a cleaned up repost.

Beautiful. Really like how you didn't overdo the saturation on this as I'm sure many would be tempted to do.

Magical Kory. It looks just right to me. Step into and admire quality. You wouldn't like Fridays here in Scotland. I dropped a film wrapper in Torridon it was last seen in Portugal.

Beautiful image, Kory! I love the light and the colors are wonderful. It really does have that cold look and feel and I always enjoy that look very much. Windchill here this morning about -25 and getting used to it again. Excellent work!

That is one nice Belt of Venus! No nits, apart from the dust bunnies that have been fixed in the repost.

Jeremy Kessler: thanks for noticing that. I really did struggle with it. I could've pushed the saturation even more, and was sorely tempted to do so. Seems like everyone expects uber-saturated stuff these days. But, in the end, I decided to exercise restraint. Wasn't easy, though.

Ian Cameron: That literally made me LOL. Thanks for the laugh!

Nick Bristol: Thanks -- that's what I was going for.

Beautiful scene with a nice color palette. The clouds below the peaks really add a lot of interest. Great composition with a lot of interesting layers.

Beautiful pastels and a great winter scene. It has a "top of the world" feel to it.

Nicely done, Kory. The processing looks really good. The saturation is just right.

Excellent man! :toast:

My only suggestion would be to up the shadow fall off slightly on the right side (1/4).
