Black Oak Acorn

Of the local oaks, the black oak has my favorite acorns. In addition their showy stripes (showy if you look closely, anyway) black oaks are prolific acorn producers. Because of that, and the busy squirrels in my neighborhood, there have been times when my grandchildren actually had to wear their bike helmets while playing behind my house.

What a splendid close-up of this acorn :toast: Only critique...I might have cropped just on the right edge of the hole in the bark beneath the acorn's casing. It distracts my eye just a bit...and cropping it would give you a better "rule of threes".

That's one neat looking acorn, Wayne, especially with that little spear poking out of the tip. (No wonder your grandkids needed helmets! ) Love all of the subtle cool colors in the acorn and its husk set against the lovely warm background.

Hey Wayne,
This is way cool, my first impression was the launch pad from a Jules Verne Novel ready for take-off.
The has to many good points to list them all quickly so I am going with the shorter bad point list for the purposes of this comment.
Bad Points List: 1) None
You have a wonderful style coupled with a unique eye . . .
We call that 'Double Trouble' were I come from.

Very cool and unique close up of this acorn, Wayne. Excellent detail for the acorn and its housing, and a terrific bg. One of the best images of a very common and photographically overlook subject I've seen. :toast:
