A Time to Reflect

Often my photographic journeys are just an excuse to get away by myself and clear my mind. Maybe do some soul searching or a bit of reflecting (pun intended) From my Headwaters collection. Thanks for looking.

I just went through your Headwater collection in your profile. Some of those images are incredible. The water running over those rocks looks like sparkling jewels. Those compositions are very inspiring actually.

The best part of this image are the reflection of another image on the surface of the bubble. An image with a sun peaking through the tree. You could go all out to promote this part by having the bubble take up larger part of the frame. But the rich browns, especially in the bottom left quadrant really add a lot.

It would be nice if the ring of bubbles around the big bubble were more in focus I suppose. But I've noticed that men are more obsessed with sharpness that women photographers and your portfolio suggests that that is not very important to you.

Kudos on a very creative image.

Nancy, I just love your Headwaters Collection and am delighted to see each new post. This is quite amazing, and what a fine eye to find it! Of course the landscape scene on the bubble is terrific, but then there's the lacy doily of bubbles around the bubble that tickles me. The surrounding water texture/pattern tops it all off. Thanks for the treat.

Interesting addition, I like the concept but feel that those bubbles really need to be sharp.

I've often tried to photograph bubbles floating on a small stream and it is very hard. You've done well here, Nancy Lea, with some fine colors and textures. I would like the edge bubbles to be sharp, but it looks like you wanted the reflection to be sharp (and it is wonderfully sharp and clear, seen so well in the larger version) and getting both of those sharp at the same time is very tough.

This is beautiful, I think it would be sharp if your shutter speed exceeded the focal number, for example 1/300 and more.
its really hard to get sharp images with telephoto lens

Very cool shot, Nancy Lea! You have a wonderful eye for finding these type of scenes and bringing them to the rest of us. I guess I do wish the small bubbles were sharper but still this works very nice.

Hi Nancy,
I think getting out and capturing images is wonderful for the soul and spirit.

I enjoy the creativity in this capture, and the reflection in the bubble is so well seen and captured. I like how the water surrounding the bubble plays the supporting role in your story. I too wish it could be a bit sharper, but the image definitely works for me.

I agree with the others, that you made a choice about what would be clear in your image. I love the reflection, but I have to agree that more needs to be in focus to carry this image. I love the out of the box feel here. Bravo on that account.

This "landscape in a bubble" is a very intriguing view... Reminds me of a (vaguely worrying) eye. Pity the bubble edges are OOF, they can become a distracting element...
