Wary Young Buck

I captured this young buck in an area where I had previously seen a very large buck. I believe that this young guy was on the lookout for the big buck. Nothing exceptional about this buck, but I thought the setting and the attentive pose was pleasing. Processed using Lightroom 5, Photoshop CC 2014 and LightZone. Note the high ISO. The 7D Mark II handles these high ISO's pretty well. Comments and critiques welcome.

Jerry, a nice pose you caught this young guy in. I like that you have his head sharp. The amount of OOF space does bother me a bit, but not sure what DOF you can get with your gear. For ISO3200 I could see no noise. Maybe I will have to re-think using a PS SX! Thanks for sharing.

Hi Jerry. Another good one from Texas. I'm really pleased with the amount of really subtle detail your outfit got for you. Impressive. I'm referring particularly to the head and in specifically the area along his snout. Extremely small, soft detail. And the colors are very nice, too. Good color palette. I like the little bit of color along the field edge with a few autumn leaves there. You got a nice pose and look from him. Eye contact-check. He certainly is not showing any signs of fear of you. Maybe because of that light cannon you've got or maybe we can call it a photon sucker. Nice calm presentation. Worthy of staying in you collection.

The soft pastel palette make this quite pleasing. In terms of composition, (although beyond your control to change) it feels like the relative weight of the tree is heavy as located. If the tree were closer to the left edge of the frame I believe it would be stronger. I hope that makes sense, as it is a "feeling" factor! Thanks for sharing.

Hey Jerry,
What a handsome fellow this is and what a beautiful capture you made. As mentioned, the detail and color pallet are excellent. I also think that Lon makes a very valid point regarding the positioning of the tree in this image, have you tried a vertical version, that may work by putting the tree to the far left and buck in the center of the frame,
Very nice image, well done . . . :toast:

Nice blend of colors here and I like the turn on this buck to show the head and the rack. I think I like how everything is positioned - though maybe go for a more vertical crop instead of the square shown here
