A Scattering of Leaves

This is a detail of the leaf covered boulder in my Quietude image I posted previously. I liked the pattern formed by the scattering of leaves, and the gentle reflection in the Merced River.

Very nice. I like the separation of the two halves provided by the sinuous water line.

The leaves really stand out against the background, and the curve of the water is spot on. No nits for me!

I presume you were poking along the quiet banks of the Merced? Angel Adams had quite an eye for such small but vibrant scenes which can be so easy to overlook amongst the towering walls. Haven't been back there since 1971 when I spent a whole spring climbing. Have to make it back!

Nice vibrant work! Tom

A tranquil scene with great fall colors. The contrast between the leaves and rock gives the photo a three dimensional effect that for some of the leaves gives the impression they are falling.

Very engaging photo, Preston. No suggestions from me as I've been too busy studying all of its character. Love the sinuous line, too. :toast:

I like the composition very much, and I think that the contrast between the bright leaves and dark moss works very well - no complaints!

I like the contrast between the moss covered rocks and the maple leaves. The reflection is very nice as well. The curves formed by where the water meets the rock add interest.

This image looks wonderful, and you have quite the eye to see this image and frame it up in such an engaging way. The colors play so well together, and I have enjoyed the larger version for a while now.

This is such an elegant image Preston

Love the vibrant colors of those leaves against their much darker background. You have mastered this technique quite well. Great sharpness without appearing to be oversharpened. The sinewy rock/water line running from right to left is really nice as well.

If there is any suggestion to make it's that lower left corner area. For me that murkier area doesn't sit well with the rest of the composition. I just find it visually confusing. Don't know if it's the DOF or slow shutter speed. Didn't bring it up because nobody else did. But decided to write how it struck me.

Nice eye for spotting this, Preston. I have to agree with Allan on the 3D feel this image projects. I, too, get the feeling of falling leaves. Really nice. :wavey:

Nice intimate landscape. I really like the reflection, could even see a composition featuring only the reflected colors--but I digress. There is a lovely balance to this image and the colors are beautiful.

The scattering of leaves and their reflections are beautiful, Preston. Your comp. creates a fine eye movement between the ulc and lrc.

Forest green and bright yellows always work so nice together. Can't tell if the leaves are falling but can really feel the motion in this image even if it is an illusion.Very nice.

I always enjoy examining your images. Seems that you really know your way around TK’s masks. If you ever have any educational write-ups with TK let me know, I really would like to learn more how to use it.

Sweet scene. Nice and peaceful. I might clone out some of the white floaties, especially in the open water on the lower left.
