Jupiter Lights

Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse, Florida. A fascinating place to visit with all the history behind the lighthouse that has been in place since 1860.

On the technical side, this is a 3 image blend for focus and exposure.

Outstanding Image Ken,
Well processed and presented, this is the best I have ever seen this old land mark look in the many times I have motored past her thru the years. In the middle 1970's I worked on a shrimp boat for three seasons and have made many trips thru the St Lucie and Jupiter Inlets as well as photography tours on the St Lucie and Loxahatchee Rivers.
I really like and appreciate the artistic feel and the wonderful lighting that you managed in this image.
 Man !

I have to agree that this is an outstanding image. Has a great feel to it from the warmth of the colors. Nicely composed with the light pointing both up and down and the reflection seeming to come into a natural spot in the FG veg. I like the hint of motion from the subtle waves on the river. The only thing I question is the reflection of the sky in the water which is more intense than the original colors in the sky. Normally it's the opposite.

Beautiful image, though Peter Cross has a good point about the intensity of the reflection. I think the lighthouse is too centered, but I don't know what other composition options you had.

A beautiful scene, Ken. My only comment is that it is "too symmetric": the lighthouse + reflection and the shoreline divide the image almost exactly into fourths. I think that a bit less symmetry would make it look even better!

Terrific, Ken. Beautiful light and color, and a pleasing comp. I like the symmetry/balance in the comp. :toast:

Ken: Oh this is fine! Spectacular lighting and a very effective comp. To me the reflections look good as a reflection will be about one stop darker than the subject. Most excellent.>=))>

Thanks to all for your comments on this image. Yea, I would normally not center on images like this, but I was somewhat limited on possibilities. One thing I try keep to keep in mind is many folks seem to appreciate centered images. And those are the folks who may purchase prints. So, if possible, I like to present a variety of perspectives.

I just found out this image was a weekly pick. Thanks moderators for that kind honor!
