Experimenting with turning photos into black and white and would love some feedback on this. Too much contrast?
Canon 5d, M3, f/16, IS0100, 1/6sec., 32mm.
Thanks in advance for any comments or critiques.

Very good! Perfect choice of shutter timing and speed. Some local contrast might up the impact, but you have the whole tonal range here and much B&W today is way over dramatized to compensate for sometime mediocre light much as there is a tendency in color to over saturate. You might dodge the far cumulus clouds, but that is personal taste. Sometimes subjects with local B&W contrast such as this can benefit from local dodging and burning for clarity.
These are not criticism! Looking fwd to more B&W.

I think this looks pretty good, Kathy. The composition works as-is, but you might consider a crop from the right. It looks like the high values could be brought up a bit and you could also look at increasing the contrast in the mid tones a little.
If you're going to really work with B&W, I suggest you obtain Tony Kuyper's Luminosity Masks. They make 'targeted' tonal adjustments a less trying experience.

Kathy, I really like this image, I find the tonal range quite pleasing and very fitting to the composition. You do need the large photo to fully appreciate it, though, especially the marvelous swirl in the water around the rocks in the foreground.

Looks real nice to me. Good job on the conversion, nice range of tones. As Preston suggested, you may be able bring up the high tones a bit without a blowout.

Hi Kathy,
I think you captured a beautiful scene, and converted it to a sweet b&w image. I have been learning a bit about b&w conversions, and think the suggestions with this image are great. Bringing out the high tones a bit more could really make this image sing a bit louder, of course this is very nice to enjoy as is.
Very good work

Kathy, this has a fine sense of depth and nice broad range of tonality. I like the contrast between the sense of motion in the foreground water and the sharpness of the distant land and clouds. The darkness in the urc sky bothers me a little, plus there's a touch of extra brightness along the middle of the left edge, that some "edge burning" would solve easily.

I like it as is but would like a bump in whites.

Very nice job!
Except for the heavy polarization, this is perfect for me.
