After Cataract Surgery

On Wednesday, I had a cataract removed from my right eye. So I decided to see how my vision has changed since the surgery. I found a small series of Halloween pennant images that I took last Summer, stacked 4 of the best and ran some edits to determine the success of the first surgery. One of the horizontal forelegs looks like there's a double edge, but checking the original shows that this is a piece of the exuvium that did not get shed. K5 IIs 300mm f4 plus 32mm extension (1/125 sec at f8.0, ISO 640. 4 image stack Pmax, Topaz In-Focus, Topaz Detail, Shadows and Highlights, crop for composition.............Jim

Had same surgery on right eye this summer; notice some changes-sharper vision in right eye; brighter lights. I am glad I had it done. I did not realize how poor my vision was. As a result I have concluded that it is my camera that is not taking sharp images, or the lens, or both or, or or . . .. Now, for the serious stuff-very nice image; sharp; excellent color and background. I like it!

Nothing wrong with your post-op post processing detail, Jim. I like the pose and green/brown colors throughout the image, and fine detail in the head and torso. Well done all around. :toast:

Large view looks great with head to tail sharpness/detail Jim.
No where near the same thing of course, but my wife has dry macular degeneration she has to deal with.
Well done & Merry Christmas! :wavey:

Thank you for the comments and Merry Christmas. Jim, I've been looking at my previous images and many have a slight yellow bias in greens and is due to the yellow tint of the cataracts. Glad your surgery turned out well. I'm having the left eye done on Wednesday and hope all goes well. Howard, I hope your wife does better in the future. With new medical discoveries, eye treatments are a lot easier on the eyes today than they were several years ago............................Jim

Even with my cataracts still in place, this looks good and sharp where it needs to be, Jim. Your stack approach sounds like a true adventure, but when the wind's blowing getting a good stack is a real challenge.

Hi Balan and Mark,

Thank you. My vision has improved to better then 20:25 in the right eye. Left eye will be fixed early tomorrow morning. Mark, when you have your cataracts removed, you will see a great improvement in your vision. It is an amazing surgery and it takes about 5 to 15 minutes per eye.........Jim

Jim, glad to know your vision has improved. The large image looks very good for me. Like the pattern in the wings. Nice work!
