Wonderful detail visible in this close-up portrait Ken. The large version is a must see. Very nice background too.

Sweet Photo!

Ken: Beautiful Kingfisher. Lovely pose and a killer background. It feels like the image is a touch dark and especially around the eye. Here's a crack at adding a bit of light in/around the eye, opening up the exposure gently on the bird. See what you think.

I loved this image, so I too jumped on the bandwagon and played with it a bit. I lightened it a bit and adjusted the white balance slightly.

First of all...great shot Ken! Super pose and perch. I like the background tones in Keith's version but I like the exposure of the kingfisher in Jerry's. The details seem to pop a little more. The gold in the background seems a little bright to me though. There's my two cents.

Hard to say which is the better image, it is such a good portrait of this kingfisher. The BG works well in either one. I like the pose and composition of the image. Well taken. Thanks for sharing.

This must be a new record for me for re-posts, thanks for the suggestions.
I thought this looked a little dark following conversion,
I will have another look, the background is distant (on the shore) "autumnal" leaves.

Awesome that you were able to approach this Kingfisher so close Ken...I can't even get within a football field of them unless I am in a blind.
Now that I expressed my envy...lol....Beautiful colors and detail on this one. Large image is must. I do think the darks could stand to be lightened a tad...especially to help the eye stand out a little more. But that is a very tiny nit....now after I typed this, I scrolled and see there are not only one, but two re-posts...so never mind.
Very nice work Ken! :toast: :toast:

Ken the smaller version looks a bit dark on my monitor, the large one is simply superb.

Keith,
You have made an interesting discovery on the difference in the image sizes, I agree :toast: :toast:
