OK, one more from the bristlecones, just because that's the trip that I am currently working and I just processed this. I like that there are two small in the frame objects in this one and I caught the last light on the highest bristlecone. Sorry to be in this bristlecone rut  I blame this WC...

Canon T1i, f/20 (for some reason), 1/50 sec, ISO-200, 232mm, tripod.

I realized that maybe a centered moon worked better than a slightly off-center moon so here's a quick repost. Eliminates some less interesting foreground, too.

BTW, not a composite

I think that the original works well, Dave. Maybe darken the foreground rocks just a bit, so as to make the bristlecone and sky + moon stand out more?

Dave, I like the comp in the original post. I think the offset of the stump (doesn't look alive to me...) and the moon work well against the heaviness of the ridge on the right. I like how the tree stands out so nicely from catching the last rays of the sun and how the moon blends with the clouds but shows good detail.

I agree, the repost is is better with less FG. Better emphasis on the main elements as well..
Very nice Dave :toast: :toast:

Your primary subject gets the first attention because of it's bright color but then it points directly to the secondary subject (both small in the frame, btw) so it works very nicely for me. I like the mood of the shot and it's graphically striking also. This is my favorite of your little bristlecone shots, Dave. :toast:

That is one lonely bristlecone, Dave. I like the original also. I think you could make the whole scene pop a bit more but I like the understated version as presented.
